Located in the district of Sao Miguel do Gostoso, the SMG wind farm is built and will be connected to the Brazilian national grid here to the first semester 2016. Developed and financed in partnership with the energy operator Copel, it total capacity is to be 108 MW. It is the biggest project built by Voltalia so far. 120m high, the 36 wind turbines will be equipped with Acciona AW3000 turbines with 116m and 125m diameter; they will deliver a 3 MW power. Voltalia supports, around the wind farm, two social and environmental projects: the renovation of a health center in the city of Sao Miguel do Gostoso, and the creation of a preservation and surveillance area for sea turtle threaten with extinction.
