To date, the average electricity production cost of JIRAMA is around 300 MWh. Canopy is developing a solar project on the island of Nosy Be of 5 MW to be a producer of electricity and sell its production to JIRAMA. The installation of a solar power plant in Nosy Be represents a significant saving for public expenditure in terms of diesel fuel consumption. The 5 MW plant, thanks to the presence of the storage unit, will cover about a third of the island's consumption.

Detail of the equipment used

Ground field PV plant with fixed structure. String inverters fixed at the mounting system. The energy is or injected directly on the isolated grid of Nosy-Be or stocked in Li-ion battery unit. The solar energy will reduce the diesel consumption of the JIRAMA (local utility company), that is today the only electricity production source.
